DDRPlace Community Pad Pack v2

Postby JTvo » Wed Apr 22, 2009 12:00 am

By popular demand, we're starting up a new pad pack. :D

People interested in judging: Please send me some of your simfiles (if I don't know you) so I can get an idea of how you like to step. Only members of DDRPlace who have been around for a while may judge.

People interested in submitting files: Please upload them to MediaFire and then PM me a link.
We do this because it's nice to keep the sims private before release. It's still OK to talk about them ITT, though.
People interested in making GFX for simfiles: We have All the GFX artists we need at this point, thanks guys.

Once we have some judges, we can start officially accepting/rejecting sims.

Cheers

If i were to eat alphabet soup could they see the little letters in a x-ray?

I will sit here and download all of these one at a time but it'd be even better if they were all together in a pack for me to get. Is that possible?

Difficulty is up to the artist, so if you want to make hard charts go for it. If one of the judges thinks the step rating is off, we'll tell you but it shouldn't be a big deal.

Simfiles Need:
    Light chart
    Standard chart
    Heavy chart
    Matching banner and bg
Try to keep bg's smaller than 1024x768. Everything else is optional, like challenge charts, bg videos, animations, lyrics, etc. :)

We still need to get a few more people over here and see if they're interested in donating simfiles. When school gets out in a month or so people will probably have more time for this sort of thing, but until then we need some judges and gfx artists. Like I said above, if you want to judge, just send me some of your best simfiles and I'll have a listen. GFX artists send me a sample of something.

I can help with graphics if you'd like. I generally make the graphics for my own files so if you think they;re of sufficient quality I'd be glad to help.

Thank you Redheaven for submitting the FIRST sim so far! And thank you to NTM for offering to make any needed GFX! I've thrown in a simfile, I might add another, so for now it's all up to you guys to expand the pack.

I'll submit a few files. I'm an ITG-oriented stepper though, so my charts will have Expert level difficulties with at least a 9. In fact, my newest sim has a 13 expert, and I'd be glad to send it to you guys. :)

It's a bit long though, do songs have to be cut down?

EDIT: I can make doubles charts if you guys want your pack more complete too.

There's no official time limit on songs though they should be longer than 45 seconds, but try not to make anything 10 minutes long :D

Doubles charts are optional, but if you'd like to that'd be great.

What exactly is the difference between a pad file and a keyboard file aside from difficulty and hand usage? Is there one?

That's pretty much it, just the difficulty. Some people also like to plan out the steps considering where your feet go, because dancing is way different than tapping your fingers, but not everyone does that. Most people who dance can figure out how to get around the pad.

Also, if you play any DDR, you'll see that the BPMs are pretty slow so the arrows don't speed by. So if you make an r21 file or you don't want to make people bother with cmods, you probably shouldn't have a solid 300BPM.

I'll be out of town until monday, but when I get back I'll review the submissions. Also, Supermaio is judging for this pack, so we'll be doing the usual posting-comments-on-submissions in this thread. It'd be great if we could get 3 or more submissions from everyone, but it's up to you guys how many you send in.
