Enrique had previously dropped Donnarumma from the bench and started Safonov in PSG’s 3-0 Ligue 1 win over Toulouse on Friday. Believing the Russian goalkeeper had better passing ability with his feet.

“We know we will have problems dealing with the high pressure of our opponents. And in this case the only free player is the goalkeeper. All players must be able to play.”

“I always want Safonov, Donnarumma and Tenas to be available and today Safonov guaranteed us that.” Enrique said of the decision to drop Donnarumma for another game.

However, while Enrique praised Safonov’s ability with his feet. The only goal conceded by Bayern defender Kim Min-jae was the Russian’s mistake for punching the ball out of a corner kick.

Matvey Safonov started for PSG this past weekend. Luis Enrique had explained to local media that. Lens’ pressing would cause trouble for his team. So he picked the Russian keeper over Donnarumma.
